THE
BELTON AREA PARTNERSHIP
"Working Together for a Better
Community"
History
During the 1990s, two
organizations served the Belton Business Community, the
Belton Merchants Association, and the Belton Area Council
(affiliated with the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce). Both
organizations were effective in promoting the community, but
often projects were duplicated. After a series of community
meetings, and with the assistance of the South Carolina
Downtown Development Association, a detailed vision plan was
developed. The two organizations determined that this plan
could best be addressed by one strong local organization with
expanded goals to improve all areas of the community, and
agreed to merge and form the Belton Area Partnership
effective January 1, 1999.
Purpose
The Belton Area Partnership is a
voluntary, nonprofit organization representing the goals and
interests of the Belton area, including nearby communities,
and its members. The Partnership will direct its full efforts
in support of the following objectives:
To promote economic
expansion within the Belton area by encouraging the
most effective use of both private and public
resources.
To formulate and execute
group activities which are aimed at improving
business and civic conditions in the Belton area.
To set up and administer
whatever committees may be deemed necessary to carry
on the activities of the partnership.
Membership
Membership in the Belton Area
Partnership is open to any licensed commercial establishment,
nonprofit organization, or individual, and is subject to the
annual dues schedule approved by the Board of Directors.
Members will have a voice in improving the community where
they live, work, or have a business interest.
Meetings
The Belton Area Partnership Board of Directors
meet the first Tuesday of each month at 8:00 am unless otherwise announced.
Meetings are currently held at the Palmetto Insurance office on Anderson
Street.
Organization/Office/Staff
A 12-member
volunteer board of directors will consist of the four
officers and eight board members. This board will have the
authority to act on all matters of business involving the
partnership. The President will appoint committees and/or
task forces necessary to implement the Partnership.
